MEDICATION MANAGEMENT

What is Medication Management?

Some psychiatric conditions may require treatment with medications. I will collaborate with you to create a medication treatment plan that best meets your needs.

What should I expect?

You should expect to receive a comprehensive evaluation prior to receiving medication services. These initial appointments take about 55 - 85 minutes depending on your unique circumstances. After your initial appointment, if you are started on medications, you should expect to follow up routinely with your Psychiatric provider. Follow-up appointments are generally up to 25 minutes.

Services & Fees: Our Services

FEES

Like many appointments with other medical specialists, office visits with a psychiatric nurse practitioner are billed based on many factors such as time, complexity, medical issues, acuity, amount of psychiatric intervention or planning, counseling, patient education, nature of the service provided (medication evaluation/management alone or medication evaluation/management with or without counseling/therapy), and other factors.

Please note that these fees can vary and are subject to change. This is meant to give you an idea about what to expect regarding fees for services and fee ranges.

  • INTAKE. The appointment is up 85 minutes. We review your history, current issues, and strengths and work together on short- and long-term goals with treatment. We will discuss the role of medications in your treatment and review the risks, benefits, side effects, and efficacy of these medications. Reviewing or requesting records, pertinent lab work, or counseling/therapy referrals are common recommendations during a first visit. Fees range from $300 to $350.

  • ROUTINE FOLLOW-UP. The appointment is typically up to 25 minutes. It includes a follow-up, medication check, review of symptoms, assessments, discussion of the plan and treatment goals, and brief counseling.  Medication refills and referrals are provided if indicated during the appointment. Fees range from $150 to $225.

  • EXTENDED FOLLOW-UP. The appointment is typically up to 55 minutes but can extend to 85 minutes if needed. It includes a follow-up and medication check, review of symptoms, assessments, discussion of the plan and treatment goals. Additional time is allowed to discuss significant medication adjustments and specific counseling. Medication refills and referrals are provided if indicated during the appointment. Some clients also use this appointment to see me for medication follow-ups and more extended counseling or treatment planning. Fees range from $200 to $350.

Other Fees

No Show/No Call. Once an appointment is scheduled, it is reserved especially for you. Should you need to reschedule or cancel, we ask that you provide 24 hours advance notice of cancellation. If you do not show or do not give a 24-hour cancellation notice, a fee of $150 will be assessed.

Medication Refill Request Outside of Scheduled Appointments. Our general policy is not to authorize refills outside of scheduled appointments. Your provider will ensure you have prescribed medication sufficient to make it to your subsequent appointment.

Suppose you cancel your appointment and run low or out of your medications without rescheduling in a timely manner. In such a case, your refill request may be charged my standard refill fee of $50 per medication.

Other Professional Services. In addition to scheduled appointment fees, I may charge up to $300 (prorated in 15-minute increments) for other professional services you may need such as preparation and writing of clinical reports and treatment summaries, extensive telephone conversations/consultations outside of an appointment, (exceeding 15 minutes per week), consultations with other professionals (with your permission) and the time spent performing any other service you may request of them.

Suppose you become involved in legal proceedings that require my participation. In that case, you will be charged for professional time (at my hourly rate, up to $300/hr), including preparation and transportation costs.
